Stephen K. Griffin, Retired

Stephen K. Griffin was born and raised in Cameron, Mo., graduating from Cameron High School in 1970. In 1971, he was the first teenager in the nation to vote following ratification of the 26th Amendment to the United States Constitution.

In 1972 he married Jennifer Davis. They have three sons; Garrett, Derrick and Cale.

Mr. Griffin attended the University of Missouri at Columbia where he received his BS in Public Administration in 1974 and his JD in 1975. In 1976, at the age of 23, Mr. Griffin started his general law practice in Northwest Missouri. In connection with and in addition to his general law practice, he owned and operated Cameron Title Company in the 1980's.

In 1988, Mr. Griffin was elected Circuit Judge in the 43rd Judicial Circuit, comprised of the counties of Caldwell, Clinton, Daviess, DeKalb and Livingston. He was re-elected to this position in 1994, 2000, and 2006. As circuit Judge, he handled several thousand serious criminal cases including murder, assault, kidnapping, burglary, stealing, sexual offenses and drug crimes. He also handled several thousand civil cases including domestic, adoptions, juveniles, medical malpractice, contracts, property disputes, vehicular accidents and insurance claims. From 1998 through 2008, he was elected Presiding Judge of the 43rd Circuit, having supervisory authority over all judges in the circuit.

Mr. Griffin is a member of the Missouri Bar, the 43rd Judicial Circuit Bar and the Clinton County Bar. From 1975 until 2003, he served as a board member on several Banks in Northwest Missouri. He is a member of the First Baptist Church, Cameron, Mo.

Stephen retired from taking new cases in 2017, but he advises, counsels and is involved with some firm matters on a case by case basis.
